This type of music became more global when in 1980 a young man from California, United States named James Hetfield met Lars Ulrich. The two young men eventually formed a band with the name Metallica. Metallica was born as one of the four pioneers of thrash metal music. the four bands were dubbed the “Big Four” namely; Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax. The four bands have their own musical characteristics but are still based on one genre, namely thrash metal.Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax began to be known as thrash metal bands from the United States in the 1990s. The four of them held a concert together in 2010 entitled “The Big Four. Because of their contribution as pioneers of thrash metal music, these four bands have been recognized as legendary bands to date. After his success in the music world as a thrash metal musician, the Big Four continued to exist from the 1980s to the late 90s.Over time, thrash metal in the 1980s and 1990s spread to Europe.
